All the Kozhikode Beaches are great for swimming. Like other beaches of India the common message is that not to go far from the shore because there are no lifeguards and no one is there to rescue you.
Where it is: 
Kozhikode is 200 km north of Kochi, the business capital of Kerala.
Journey Route: 
Kozhikode is 6 hrs drive from Kochi. Kozhikode has it's own railhead. Karipur is the airport.
Tourist Season: 
From November to February.

Kozhikode is located by the Lakshadweep Sea and has few beautiful beaches having unspoilt natural beauty. People who are looking for solitude, should visit the tranquil beaches of  Kozhikode to rejuvenate themselves. Kozhikode Beach is a suburb beach where people folk to refresh themselves in the evening. Kappad, Beypore and Payyoli beaches are other beaches which are little away from the city and  could be perfect holiday destinations.
Kappad Beach is a historic beach of Kerala which is 16 km away from Khozhikode one of the famous town of north Kerala. Local people call it Kappadkadavu.This beach is historic because this is the point where in 1498 the great Portuguese Explorer Vasco da Gama landed first in India. This is a white sandy beach backed by rocky landscape with coconut palm trees surrounding it. Kappad is also a backwater itenery.  Fishing is the main living hood of the people here. The Korapuzha river falls to the Arabian Sea along side here. Kappad Beach can be best traveled by backwaters. It is still pristine in nature and surely satisfies the solitude seeking tourist. Here you can enjoy the seclusion and also witness the history of the Portuguese arrival in India later whom ruled a part  of India. In Kappad commercialization is yet to boom hence it is advisable to stay in Kozhikode.  
Payyoli is another tiny beach which is famous for a rock that stands out of the sea locally known as Velliyamkallu. Other than this Payyoli is a beach where fisherman and their activities can be seen from close location. Payyoli Beach was the track of India's renowned athlet PT Usha. To day she runs a sports school in Payyoli. If you are in Payyoli, hire a boat and pay a visit to Velliyamkallu, it is really exciting.

Beypore is another beach which is located on the estuary of the river Chaliyar.  This is a place which is famous for boat building and fishing. The beach itself has a tranquil nature which attact people to refresh themselves.
